GETTING STARTED - Bucks County Public Libraries Video Contest

Make a one-minute public service announcement advertising the theme of next year’s summer reading program: 
Make Waves @Your Library

Along with your video, please submit a short marketing plan (your videotaping"advertising pitch") in a paragraph or two, describing your video and how you would use it to market the libraries' summer reading program.

Any teen, going into 6th through 12th grade may enter.  In the event of a group submission, the prize will be divided among the group members.

How to Enter

  1. Sign up for a YouTube account.
    1. Review YouTube’s Terms of Use especially item 6: Your User Submissions and item 12: Ability to Accept Terms of Service.
    2. If you are under 13, you must have a parent or guardian sign-up for the account.
    3. All entries must adhere to the YouTube Community Guidelines.
    4. Be sure to look at the section about copyright and YouTube.

  1. Create Your Video
    1. Videos can focus on books, programs, technologies or services the Library offers.   Videos do not have to be filmed at the library.  Be creative!
    2. Video entries must incorporate, in audio or video, the words: Make Waves@Your Library.
    3. Video entries must be original works created between June 20, 2009 and August 7, 2009.
    4. Video entry forms will only be accepted between June 20, 2009 and August 7, 2009.
    5. Video length must be no more than one minute long.
  1. Upload your video to YouTube
    1. If you are under 13, please have parent or guardian submit your video.
    2. Give your video a title, description, and tags.
    3. Make sure one of the tags you assign is "Bucks County Public Libraries.”
  1. Complete the online entry to submit your entry.
    1. Entries will be accepted June 20, 2009 to August 7, 2009.
    2. At the end of the entry form, please write a short marketing plan describing your video and how you would use it to market summer reading at the library.
  1. Winners will be notified by September 1, 2009.  One grand prize of $2,500 will be awarded to best overall video.  Smaller prizes will be awarded in the following categories:  best comedy, best costumes, best animation (including claymation, puppets, etc.), and best marketing plan.
