Have you noticed the iPads at the seven library branches? You can now enjoy newspapers and digital magazines on these iPads during your visit to the library. The magazines and newspapers can be found on either the Newsstand or Zinio app. Zinio is also available to use on your own device. You can find more information at http://www.buckslib.org/resources_a-to_z/#Z.
Every week you’ll find a new brain boosting game app on these iPads as well. We’ll be sure to explain the benefits of playing the game. The apps we feature will be free downloads or have a small cost associated with them.
Our first App of the Week is Clockwork Brain, named one of the 500 best apps in the world by the London Times. With over 600,000 downloads, this popular app will sharpen your skills with its unique puzzles.
In the children’s sections at the Bensalem, Langhorne, Levittown, Perkasie, Quakertown, and Yardley branches we are introducing iPads with books, games, and other interactive apps that promote Early Literacy Development and help build the skills that children need to learn to read and write. The children’s iPads also feature an App of the Week. Each has been carefully chosen by our librarians to provides a fun and educational experience for toddlers and preschoolers.
Pat the Bunny is the first App of the Week. This award winning app delightfully swaps the classic touch-and-feel story with an enhanced visual, auditory, and kinesthetic experience. It builds the early literacy skills of print awareness, print motivation, vocabulary development, narrative skills, and digital literacy.
